Launching Statement: The Knowledge Workshop!

-Come to our launching party-

a Statement

AUGUST 2016

Hello Everybody!

It is with great excitement that we present to our communities, fellow organizations, and friends: The Knowledge Workshop (ورشة المعارف – registration number 678/2015). The Knowledge Workshop (KW) is fruit of working for more than 10 years in producing feminist knowledge from a grassroots level to the MENA region. The KW is the natural evolution of certain aspects of SAWT AL NISWA that now need to be tended to and offered in a more institutionalized framework.

As the name implies, we are a space that works with ideas, theories, stories, language– different forms of knowledge through a feminist workshop where women re-narrate their stories and take claim of their histories. It is a workshop of continuous learning processes of the different tools of feminism.

The founders of KW come from different backgrounds, but through many collaborations and conversations, we chose to be comrades and work-partners. For years, we have dedicated our time to the Sawt al Niswa collective and webspace. And now we take this step because we have a feminist support system, and because we have a dream that we are responsible for. KW is that dream.

There are three main  projects we work on in KW: The Feminist Library, The Feminist School and The Storytellers Project. More details about our projects soon!

We just wanted to drop this note to say hi, and to invite you to the  opening of al warsheh officially on AUGUST 23, 2016. 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Come celebrate with us, learn about our projects, and let us know what you think.

Aren’t you excited? We know we are!!

Until we meet, we are counting on community support to grow. If you would like to support us in this work, you can do so by:

1- donating books to our Feminist Library. We have a dream of having every feminist book our shelves and of growing this space into the biggest public feminist library possible and we can only do it with your support!

2-  connecting us to awesome people and groups who you think we should know.

And feel free to email us at sara@alwarsha.org and deema@alwarsha.org to learn more about us.

With love,

Sara and deema
