In March 2023, KW held the launch of its third book In the Company of Loss: Oral History and Feminist Legacies. This publication delves into the intricacies of movement-building, and building on the work and legacies of feminists and activists who have come before us, steering away from conventional iconization. Instead, we explore the inevitability of loss and change, as well as the role of grief, as a dynamic force in feminist politics, recognizing its nuanced role in shaping our collective journey. Through oral history as the main methodology, this unique publication serves to amplify the voices and experiences of feminists who have played pivotal roles, allowing us to carry forward their legacies without succumbing to idealization. KW’s aim as we engage publicly with this book is to open more spaces of thoughtful reflection and dialogue, where we can imagine together how to integrate the complex nature of loss into our ongoing organizational work, fostering a resilient and inclusive feminist community and a regenerative movement.
